About You #1 30 Day Challenge: Day 18

Day 18- Plans/dreams/goals you have

At first i thought i'd really end up becoming a nurse. But i now know that there are other options to go from here. I wanna take my degree and possibly teach. I'm not teaching for the money, i wanna teach cause i think i enjoy it. It may have something to do with being surronded with close family members that teach, like my mum and my dad. Wherever my life takes me, i hope i'll be happy and safe, and so will my family.

Day 17- Someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why

If i could change lives with anyone for a day, it'd probably be some celebrity. Someone that can sing. Like Demi Lovato or something. Just cause i wanna what it would be like if i could sing. Cause i cant, so it'd be interesting to see what i'll do with that kind of voice and the fame that comes with it.

Day 13- A letter to someone who has hurt you recently

To you.

This letter is for you cause i think you've hurt me these past few days. You don't know it but you did. Everyone gave those last few chances to renew yourself, but once again you disappoint. You never listen to anyone, you're rude and you're just plain stubborn. You never fail to hurt and disappoint. We do what we do to you cause we love you and want you to do better, but you wont help yourself. You can teach the stupid but you can teach the stubborn. This raya, just do one thing- be pleasant.

We try to love you as much as possible, but you keep pushing us away.

Spotlight: Jason Reeves' New Album The Lovesick

In general, i really adore Jason Reeves' music. His song writing skills and melodic songs puts me in a state of trance everytime i listen to them. When i listen to his songs, i feel the words running down my spine. No one song is can be called my favourite cause each of his songs mean something different to me. If i could every write a song, it'd be what he'd already written.

His new album is as incredible as his previous ones, maybe even better. You have to listen to his songs to get what i mean. His words, so strong and it hits you hard in your face sometimes. If you know what i mean, some of his words can break you down. And thats what i love about his songs. He is definately in my top 5 favourite artists of all time. <3

Check out his myspace here, his facebook here and get his new album here and here.

15 Best-Ever Diet Tips!

15 Best-Ever Diet Tips

Based on an article from Women’s Weekly Health May 2011 issue.

Article was based on a book by Sally Symonds called 50 steps to lose 50kg

Get her book Here.

1. Eat more, not less. Weight loss doesnt necessarily mean eating less, but it does mean eating better. Feeling hungry is one of the surest ways to make you give up on healthy eating.

2. Consider your carbs. Low-GI carbohydrates keep you fuller for longer. Serve yourself High-GI carbs (the ones that are high in sugar), and you are actually double dipping in terms of the negative effects. For a list of low-GI foods, click here.

3. Dont deprive your body of something it needs. All foods give us energy, but each individual food group also aids with specific functions in the body that are unique to that food group. If you severely restrict of completely eliminate, your consumption of any major groups, you will soon notice the results- and they wont just be at the waistline.

4. Don't skip meals. Especially breakfast. It slows your metabolism and makes you much more likely to overindulge at the next opportunity.

5. Water - just drink it. You can survive a couple of weeks without food, but only a couple of days without water. Increasing your water intake is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to assist your body to metabolise fat more efficiently, while simultaneously increasing your feeling of fullness.

6. Keep a food diary. For some people, the key to successful weight loss is 50 per cent diet and 50 per cent exercise For others, the ratio is much closer to 80:20. Many overweight people claim to "eat well" but are still overweight. Try keeping a food diary for awhile, you might be surprise how much extra calories you consume each day.

7. Little things mean alot. A five-minute walk, or one biscuit instead of three, does make a difference. You need to take lots of little steps, not one great big leap, to climb a mountain.

8. Monitor yourself in a way that suits your psychological makeup. Some people need to weigh themselves everyday to stay motivated. For others, this method can be extremely disheartening. Whether you use a measuring tape or an old pair of jeans, work out what works best for you and stick with it.

9. Fact versus Fiction. Food labels are what you think you're getting on a first date. Learning how to read nutrition panels takes time, but its useful. Forget the front of the packet- thats just marketing. Low-fat means its high in sugar. Nutrition panels are facts. Understand them.

10. Portion Control. When the choice is waste or waist, ask yourseld, "Am i a rubbish bin?" If you arent, then dont worry about not finishing everything on your plate.

11. Lose fats fast = get rich quick. There's a very good reason why some things sound too good to be true- they are. Beware of diets that promise you'll lose weight fast. The first thing you lose will be water, not fats.

12. Do not be a repeat offender. Around 95% of people who diet regain all their weight the have lost- and more- within two years. Most people then go back and try to lose weight again using the same method thinking that it'll work again. Clearly, it didnt!

13. Almost any plan will work- while you're on it. The key to successful and sustainable weight loss is not only an approach that teaches you about exercise and nutrition so that you can make informed choices, but also on that cultivates good mental habits too.

14. You are not the "biggest loser". Unless the only thing you have to do in your life is lose weight, you wont have time to exercise for 8 hours a day, and you wont be able to lose weight as quickly either.

15. Make healthy living a priority. A healthier, happier more energetic you not only improves the quality of your own life, but also enhances the positive impact you have onothers around you. Moreover, a healthier life usually means a longer life.

So that was it! 15 ways to help you get through dieting, the right way. This was an article that i came across in a magazine and i thought you'd like it and that you can benefit from it too. Leave me a comment below if you think this post was helpful and if you'd like more of these posts.

Stay healthy!

about You #1 30 Day Challenge: Day 7

Day 07- A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on youu
As much as i sometimes hate to admit it, i'm becoming more and more like my mother. She's strong, independent and just plain lovable. She can be such a pain sometimes, but for the most part, she's pretty much amazing. With everything she's accomplished in her life thus far, i feel like her life is the direction i want to take in mine. She has impacted my life tremendously, not just cause she's my mother, but because of the way she brings soul and love in my life. She constantly reminds me of how important it is to do well in what i do now, so that i can have a bigger and brighter future.
I might take her advice for granted sometimes, but i'll never not love her. She gave me everything and she's m everything and i love her for that.
P/s i love my dad alot too!

About You #1 30 Day Challenge: Day 6

Day 06- Favorite super hero and why

My favourite superhero would have to be prof x, from x-men. I dont know if he counts as a superhero but i think he's pretty cool. I like his character, as a mind-manipulator/reader. What makes him more worthy of becoming favourite superhero is that he's humble about it and he doesnt take advantage of his power for his own benefits. I love the first 3 movies of x-men and i love the wolverine one as well, but i think i love x-men first class the most cause you get to see the characters before they evolved into what they are now. You see the character build up and i absolutely enjoyed the movie.

How to survive pulling an all-nighter to study for an exam?

I'm currently studying for my end of semester exams and i've been trying out ways to keep my focused and awake all night to study. Here are my top picks of things to have on hand when studying late night or just studying in general.

I always have a nice cup of hot tea on hand to keep me going. If you prefer coffee, have that too, which ever rocks your boat. Tea keeps me awake and prevents me from falling asleep!
Next thing will sound kinda strange but its having colourful markers on standby. I usually re-write my notes and i like looking at my notes with colours on them. It entertains my eyes and makes the notes seem less boring and kinda makes me more interested in reading them.
If you're studying from textbooks, definately have colourful post-its! If you don't like colour, skip the colours and stick with one. But use the post-its to jot down little notes and scribbles so that you don't dirty your books! I like things with colours, so i have post-its of various colours. :)

Lastly, if you study better with music, have good music! Try somethings soothing, rather than your heavy metal stuff, cause it'll only make you concentrate less on what you're studying and absorbing less information.

Most of what i've suggested works on me. Obviously, my method of studying may not work on you but what's important is finding something that does work for you.

If you're out there studying too, happy studying!

I couldnt think of any so i asked my aunt and she said that my "habit that she wishes i didnt have" is that i can spend hours watching youtube video. Literally hours! Which is true, but i dont wish i didnt have, if you know what i mean.

COOKIES!

My neighbour makes amazing sweet treats and i wanted to try baking myself and see if it compares. I'm quite proud of myself. It didnt really turn out the way i wanted it to, but with a little more practice and tweaking of the recipe, i bet i could get it just right!

Even my brother can't wait to taste it!

Enjoy.

Spotlight: Troian Bellisario

I think she's really pretty and her fashion style on The Pretty Little Liars as Spencer Hastings is really different. I love her preppy look on the show and it seems to really work for her. Even her pull-back ponytail looks flawless on her. Her red carpet looks are trendy and stylish too! <3

xo.

Braces UPDATE!

Just changed my braces band colour again. I lost track of all the colours i've changed to, really. But i thought i'd be different if i got a striking colour like hot pink! I still dont know how i feel about the colour yet, but it's growing on me. The dentist changed the type of band too. Instead of the usual single bands around each bracket, its now a connecting band to each bracket (if you know what i mean.) This makes it really obvious that i have pink bands on since all you see is the pink line across my teeth. I'm rambling on too much. Haha.

Hope you have a great day!

About You #1 30 Day Challenge: Day 2

Day 02- The meaning behind your Tumblr/Blogger name

Braidsandbraces was origanally made by my bestf and me. But we decided on scrapping the idea and have our own blogs. We just randomly decided on the name, since i've got my braces on and all. So that's how it came about. Since i liked the name so much and i couldnt think of anything else, i decided to stick with the name. I think its quite catchy and is very me. :)

Hope you had a great day!

Which one should i get for myself for my birthday?

I kinda like the 3-strap idea but the 2-strap looks more proper, if that makes sense. But the 3-straps looks more uncommon.

I like experimenting with different looks. So this was one of the more out there, colourful eye looks that i dont think i can pull off wearing outside the house. But i do adore the colours though. Thought i'd be fun to play around with false eyelashes too.

Plus, this whole eye look was done only with the 88 colour palette!
